A. This is a reappointment to the rank of Professor(Research).
Stanford's program in robotics goes back 22 years and Binford
has been involved for 19. It is one of the outstanding robotics
programs in the country, and the subject is important both
scientifically and practically. The attached letters about
Binford are also relevant to the international reputation of the
program.
B. The candidate has been successful as indicated by the letters.
C. The candidate interacts significantly with Mechanical Engineering
and with Professor Robert Cannon in Aero and Astro.
D. Binford has done his share in the committee work of the Department.
